About this policy

This policy explains how Jake Douglas Coaching uses cookies and similar technologies on jakedouglascoaching.com, and how you can control them.

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Jake Douglas Coaching, a personal training business based in Dorset, UK. You can reach us at info@jakedouglascoaching.com.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device when you visit. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it. We also use similar technologies, such as browser local storage, and this policy covers those too.

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary without asking you first. Everything else is only set if you agree to it through our cookie banner.

The cookies we use

We use three types: strictly necessary cookies, which are always on, and analytics and functional cookies, which you can accept or decline.

Strictly necessary

These keep the website secure and working, and remember your cookie choice. They do not track you and cannot be switched off.

  • crumb (Squarespace, session): protects forms on the site from cross-site request forgery attacks.

  • ss_cookieAllowed (Squarespace, up to 1 year): remembers whether you accepted or declined cookies.

  • RecentRedirect (Squarespace, 30 minutes): prevents redirect loops when a page address has changed.

Analytics and performance (only with your consent)

These tell us how many people visit, which pages they view, how they found us and roughly where they are (based on IP address). The data is aggregated and helps us improve the site. It is not used for advertising.

  • ss_cvr (Squarespace, 2 years): identifies unique visitors and tracks visits.

  • ss_cid (Squarespace, 2 years): identifies unique visitors and tracks visits.

  • ss_cpvisit (Squarespace, 2 years): tracks returning visits.

  • ss_cvt (Squarespace, 30 minutes): tracks the current visit.

  • ss_cvisit (Squarespace, 30 minutes): tracks the current visit.

Functional (only with your consent)

These support the sign-up form for our free guide and email list.

  • mailerlite:session_id (MailerLite, session): keeps the sign-up form working during your visit.

  • mailerlite:forms:submitted:[ID] (MailerLite, persistent): remembers that you have already signed up, so the form is not shown again.

  • mailerlite:webform:shown (MailerLite, persistent): remembers whether a sign-up pop-up has been shown.

If you decline functional cookies, you can still sign up. Email info@jakedouglascoaching.com and we will add you manually.

We do not currently use advertising or social media tracking cookies. If we start, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Third-party services

Two providers process cookie data on our behalf. Both act under their own privacy terms and may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

Our sign-up form may use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. reCAPTCHA can set its own cookies and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms.

We link to Instagram and other sites. Those sites set their own cookies once you visit them, and their policies apply there, not this one.

For how we handle personal data more broadly, including the details you give us when you sign up or book, see our Privacy Policy.

Managing your cookie choices

You can change your mind at any time, and declining non-essential cookies will not stop you using the site.

  • Our cookie banner: when you first visit, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. To change your choice later, use the Cookie Settings link in the website footer.

  • Your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working. Guidance for each browser is at aboutcookies.org.

  • Clearing existing cookies: withdrawing consent stops new cookies being set. To remove ones already stored, clear them in your browser settings.

If you have a concern about how we use cookies, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy whenever we add or remove a cookie or tool, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change needs your consent, we will ask again through the cookie banner.
